Audrey Jones Memorial Trophy Quiz

This general knowledge quiz is aimed at pupils in their final year at Junior School and is based on the format made popular by the “Top of the Form” radio quiz of many years ago. All Junior and Primary schools in the Gloucester area are invited to enter a team from their school

The competition was first launched in 2005 in memory of Audrey Jones, wife of our then oldest member, Ron.

Audrey died in 2003 and left a cash legacy which she wanted spent on young people. It is against this background that the club decided to set up this quiz for teams of four.  Ron died in 2006 but  supplemented Audrey’s money with a legacy of his own.

The competition opens with a number of heats, the winner and runner up of which go forward to the semi finals.

The winning team of each semi final, and from 2007 the highest scoring runner up, contest the final.

The winning team in the final is presented with the Audrey Jones Memorial Trophy and a cheque for £100 for it's school. Each team member is also presented with a prize. The runners up are awarded a cheque for  £50 for their school together with individual prizes.

The Gloucester Lions Club wishes to thank all the children who take part and all the schools who enter the competition for their contribution.  Without the on going support of staff and parents who allow their children to participate we would be unable to continue with this competition. We particularly thank those Headteachers  who allow us to use their premises to host the various rounds.
