“Audrey Jones Memorial Trophy” Quiz 2007 This years competition began with Castle Hill opening their defence of the Trophy by entertaining teams from Upton St Leonards and Birdlip.
The team, pictured left, comprised Haydan, Alex, Troy and Aaron. They will be joined in the semi final by Birdlip who were represented by Benjamin, Jamie, Lucy and Phoebe.
Hempsted won Heat 2, but it was a tight affair. It was not until the very last question of the competition that they took to lead for the first time. Pictured right is the team, comprising Genie, Emily, Rob and Josha Matt, Ryan, Jordan and Katie represented St Mary's, Churchdown who took the runners up place and so win their place in the semi final.
Heat 3 saw Elmbridge, who have appeared in both of our finals so far winning by a margin of 4 points. Pictured left is the team of Emile, Poppy, Peter and Jenny. It needed a tie breaker before St James, represented by Aishah, Andre, Nina and Matthew were able to edge ahead of Brockworth to take second place and earn their place in second semi final. Heat 4 saw the
completion of the first round. It was won by the home Pictured right is the winning team of Freddy, Joe, James and Gabrielle. Kings, who were represented by Henry, Rachel, Tom and Miriam, took second place so will face Castle Hill, St Marys and Elmbridge in their semi final. SEMI FINALS Highnam became the first school to book their place in the final when they won their semi final. Hempsted finished in the runners up spot but will not know whether they will make it into the final until after next weeks semi final and we have the score of the runners up in that round. In winning their semi final Elmbridge claimed a place in the final for a third successive year. In scoring 32 points and finishing in the runners up spot St Marys claimed third spot in our final at the expense of Hempsted. . FINAL Elmbridge continued their fine form in this competition by regaining the trophy which they won in 2005. Highnam took the runners up spot with St Mary's finishing a close third.
