Gloucester Lions Club "We Serve” Quiz 2007 Elmbridge win the final of this years "Audrey Jones Memorial Trophy" Quiz
This years competition
reached its finale at Kings School on Wednesday 21st
November when teams representing Elmbridge, Highnam and St Marys went
head to head in the presence of Mr Ian Mean, Editor of the Citizen,
many parents, teachers and friends.
With questions based on subjects ranging from local knowledge, geography, music, sports and history the lead changed a number of times during the evening and the score remained close until the final round when Elmbridge, represented by Emile, Poppy, Peter and Jenny finally moved clear to win, a repeat of their schools 2005 success.

Highnam represented by Freddy, Joe, James and Gabriele took a well deserved second place followed by St Marys who were represented by Jordan, Ryan, Katie and Matt. Lion President Jim Stewart congratulated all three teams on their performance and thanked all schools who had taken part this year. Without them there could be no competition. He then invited Mr Mean to present the “Audrey Jones” Memorial shield together with individual prizes and certificates to the Elmbridge team. They also win a cheque for £100 for their school. Mr Mean also presented individual prizes and certificates to members of both Highnam and St Mary’s teams. After presenting the awards Mr Mean said that this quiz, organised by the Gloucester Lions Club was rapidly becoming an established part of the calendar and members of all three teams could feel proud in the part they had played in contributing to successful evening. He then invited the members of the Elmbridge team to spend a day at The Citizen where they could prepare some of their own reports. The Gloucester Lions Club wishes to thank all the children who took part and all the schools who entered the competition for their contribution to this years event. Without the continued support of staff and parents who allow their children to participate we would be unable to continue with this competition. We particularly thank those Headteachers who allowed us to use their premises to host the various rounds. We look forward to seeing you again in 2008 |
